Garmin echoMAP plus 73sv is an upgraded version of the same series 73cv model with added feature of SideVü SONAR to the existing 2D CHIRP and ClearVü SONAR. The 73cv and 73sv share the rest of the features such as Navigation maps,GPS, charts and related features. This bright, sunlight-readabke 7inch display device is supposedly the best choice for Coastal fishing.

DISPLAY

The display comes at a 7” WVGA color with a high pixel matrix of 800×400. It happens to be touch-enabled along with a keypad at the right corner of the housing. The LED backlight allows the screen to be clearly visible under harsh sunlight or outdoor light as well.

Home screen can be customised according to your preference while being extremely user-friendly. If you’re a beginner then this device is definitely one of the easiest ways to learn how fish finders work and what to expect from them, how to read them, etc.

The superior imaging quality makes even tiniest of details visible with high accuracy.

The split screen option allows up to 3 tabs to be open simultaneously, allowing one to keep an eye on the SONAR returns while not losing sight of your boat position on the map.

The display of this fish finder also uses Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing you to sync the unit with your smartphone and use the ActiveCaptain application. And in this application, you can perform different functions.

The waterproof rating is IP-X7, which means the device was built to withstand accidental splashes, heavy rain, and submersion in 3.3ft of water for up to 30 seconds.

This fish finder also comes with a tilt and swivel mount and a flush mounting kit. Additionally, the kit includes a quick release cradle, which makes it quick and easy to remove the display and taking it with you

SONAR AND TRANSDUCER

The Garmin echoMAP Plus 73sv bundle comes with the CV52HW-TM transducer that covers all the implemented sonars: 2D CHIRP, SideVü, and ClearVü.

For the CHIRP 2D sonar, the transducer utilizes a single high-frequency beam with CHIRP modulation intervals between 150 and 240 kHz with a conical beam covering 24-16°. The unit comes with available 2D frequencies of 83, 77, and 50 kHz. 77/200 and 50/200 transducers can also unlock the unit’s dual-frequency capabilities.

The 12-pin transducer also comes with a transom mount, temperature sensor, and 20ft of power cable. 

CV52HW-TM can reach the depth of up to 800ft with its 2D CHIRP and 500ft with sv/cv sonars which on pairing with 50 kHz capable transducer will extend the reach to upto 2300 ft and is also compatible with Panoptix sonars.

The ClearVü scanning sonar gives a nearly photographic image of what’s underneath boat. SideVü scanning sonar shows clear image of submerged objects, fish on the side.

This fish finder device includes LakeVu g3 maps integrated with Navionics data cover more than 17,000 U.S. lakes, rivers and reservoirs with up to 1′ contours. It also shows interstates, general roads and bridges, designated fishing areas, boat ramps, marinas and campgrounds.

These highly detailed freshwater maps with integrated Navionics data cover more than 17,000 U.S. lakes, rivers and reservoirs with up to 1′ contours. LakeVü g3 gives you excellent detail of underwater features, plus Shallow Water Shading allows you to designate a minimum depth.

 The Shallow Water Shading feature allows one to assign minimum depth which indicates the user when a shallow area of the lake is approached.

The Garmin echoMAP Plus 73sv is also compatible with BlueChart g2 and BlueChart g2 Vision charts for those who prefer to havr off-shore charts. On upgrading one can access the LakeVu Ultra, which offers more detail compared to the LakeVu g2.
